Aung San Suu Kyi persevered through her obstacle filled childhood to change the Burmese government and fulfill her father's legacy. Although she had many struggles in her life, Suu Kyi did everything for the greater good. She put the needs of others before her own.

ChildhoodAung San Suu Kyi was born on June 19th, 1945, in Rangoon, Burma When Aung San was two years old, her father was assassinated by his political rivals. He was plotting to make Burma a free country by negotiating with the British Prime Minister. However, he was murdered before this happened. Another horrible tragedy in Suu Kyi’s life was when she was only seven years olds. When she was playing with her brother he accidentally drowned in the Inya Lake. Aung San Suu Kyi took these horrible tragedies and developed the motive to make Burma a democracy.
